Traceability

Our aim is to become industry leaders in traceability by ensuring that the diamonds, gemstones and precious metals used in our jewellery pieces are responsibly sourced and, wherever possible, traced back to their mines of origin. In addition we pledge to proactively support the mining societies on which we rely and aim to contribute to the bettering of these communities.

From Mine to Market

Boodles has made great strides towards traceability over the last five years, establishing a growing number of direct partnerships with diamond and gold mines. As we continue to strengthen our partnerships and traceability initiatives, we aspire to create a positive impact on the global jewellery supply chain and hope to foster a ripple effect towards a more sustainable and ethical future.

Peace of Mined

Diamonds, by their very nature, are shrouded in mystery as one of the world’s most valuable, yet scarce natural resources. It is little wonder they have always been so highly sought after.

Despite this romantic notion of mystery, we feel the idea of provenance is of the utmost importance and over the last few years have been striving to create as much transparency as possible for our consumers as to where our diamonds come from. In doing so we have created direct connections to mines across the world, including some of the world’s most famous diamond mines. By buying rough diamonds directly from the mine we are overseeing each step of the supply chain, as the diamond is cut, polished and ultimately set into a unique piece of Boodles jewellery.

For our coloured gemstones, we rely on trusted partnerships with individuals who source stones from around the world, including Namibia, Mozambique, Sri Lanka, Brazil, and Colombia, among other countries.

Our ‘Peace of Mined’ offering is truly exceptional and continually evolving. We take pride in our growing ability to ensure ethical practices and traceability.

Single Mine Origin Gold

We are committed to doing all that we can in order to ensure the gold we sell is mined ethically and is fully traceable.

We are delighted that Single Mine Origin Gold (SMO) is the only gold being used across all pieces of Boodles jewellery. This unique partnership means we are able to guarantee exactly which small selection of mines our gold comes from and allows us to follow the positive impact we are having on surrounding communities; such as supporting local schools and creating opportunities for education and employment in rural African communities.

More importantly, it is possible for customers to trace their SMO gold all the way back to its origin including where the gold was mined, the journey it has taken, and the positive impact it has made along the way.

Supplier Standards

As a 6th generation, family owned business we pride ourselves on our ethical standards and we expect each of our suppliers to adhere to the same rigorous practices, which have been outlined within the Boodles Code of Conduct. We work with a select, carefully curated group of suppliers and know each of these intimately.

We greatly endorse the positive economic and social impact the mining of gold, diamonds and gemstones can have on local communities and endeavour to support those that are most in need of these contributions. However, we are also aware of the risks related to conflict, corruption and human rights violations and have an exclusion policy which is regularly updated in case any countries need to be excluded from our sourcing procedures in order to address these concerns.
