Diavik Mine
Boodles is delighted to announce its recent partnership with Rio Tinto’s Diamond Diavik Mine, one of the world’s foremost sources of ethical, high-quality diamonds and one of the most beautifully set mines in the world.
Traceability
This exciting collaboration marks as an extension of Boodles’ Peace of Mined initiative, enabling us to trace a diamond’s journey from the moment it is mined to its transformation into a Boodles masterpiece. Rio Tinto's Diavik Diamond Mine, known as the most beautiful mine in the world, embodies a commitment to providing the world’s finest diamonds, ensuring that every diamond’s beauty is matched by its integrity.
Diavik Mine
Situated in Canada’s pristine Northwest Territories, 200 kilometres beneath the Arctic Circle, the Diavik Mine is renowned for producing some of the finest diamonds in the world. As a leader in responsible mining, its closure was planned from the beginning, designing the end is close collaboration with Indigenous stakeholders. These diamonds and their impeccable pedigree are being incorporated into many of our classic collections, recognisable with a distinctive D engraving. While our Peace of Mined collection typically incorporates larger diamonds, these pieces are being offered at more accessible price points, allowing a broader audience to experience the beauty of Diavik's fully traceable diamonds. All of these diamonds are being set in Single Mine Origin gold, meaning that every aspect of the jewellery can be fully traced.
“After some 10 years of partnering with Rio Tinto’s pink diamonds business we are thrilled to now work with their incredible Diavik mine in Northern Canada, below a frozen lake in one of the most pristine ecosystems on the planet.”
Operating in extreme conditions where temperatures can drop as low as -40 degrees Celsius, the team at Diavik employs state-of-the-art techniques to minimise the environmental impact. They use renewable energy, such as operating one of the largest hybrid wind-diesel power facilities at a remote mine site, together with the largest off grid solar facility in the Canadian territories. Diavik also continuously works to preserve local wildlife and ecosystems along with supporting local community organisations to ensure this pristine landscape remains.
At Boodles, we believe our jewellery represents both beauty and responsibility, and our partnership with Diavik ensures that our diamonds are as ethical as they are beautiful, marking a significant step towards a more sustainable future.
